Speaker 0 00:00:00 Hey, Barry. Hey Al, did you know beholders are polyamorous? Speaker 1 00:00:07 I did not. Speaker 2 00:00:10 Yeah. They're always seeing multiple people. Speaker 3 00:00:13 It's time for <inaudible>. Speaker 0 00:00:29 Hello everybody. And welcome back to compel duel. I'm Al and I'm Barry, and we Speaker 2 00:00:35 Are a single-player Cody AMD, fifth edition Dudgeon and dragons, actual play podcast Speaker 5 00:00:40 Previously on compelled dual. So remember how I told you that the lives of your people were already on the line per port is being sacked by Australian pirates right now. Speaker 3 00:00:53 What are you? Speaker 5 00:00:55 Pirates ships, swords blood in the streets. A couple on dead that we just had to kill. Do I need to elaborate further to get some fucking action out of you people. There's Speaker 3 00:01:07 A reason the city of power parts ever been taken before hasn't been used since the time of my great grandfather's boots. Speaker 1 00:01:15 We'll have to dust it off. I suppose this shimmering Speaker 2 00:01:20 Blue energy in this huge pulse shoots out and then starts to spread throughout the city. And from where you are at the door, you can see through the campus. A lot of those big, almost featureless stone statues that you saw on your way up, start to shift. Speaker 1 00:01:42 You've made your point. What are your demands? We're willing Speaker 5 00:01:47 To comply. If you're willing to spare Pearl port, Speaker 3 00:01:50 If you're both on my ship by sunrise, I sailors go back to their shifts and all of this stops. I'm anchored outside the Harbor. Speaker 1 00:02:00 Not going to say in case we lose because that's not going to happen. But if things go sideways, if we don't all make it out here, I love you. I love Speaker 2 00:02:13 You too, but I should kick your ass for entertaining. The possibility that we're not all making it out of here. That's Speaker 5 00:02:19 An extremely complicated thing for you to say. And I don't think he would have said it if you didn't plan on dying. So I'm going to kick your ass to defiance. You and I have a score to settle. Speaker 1 00:02:36 Oh good. Speaker 5 00:02:38 I was worried that you marked going to make this any fun Speaker 1 00:02:42 Everybody roll initiative. Speaker 5 00:02:53 So we're about to get into a little bit of a nasty fight. And again, so I am not talking to myself through this entire combat. I am going to be running Leo and all of the NPCs on our team while Al is going to be running fee in addition to defiance and all of her pirate band. So we're going to start off by rolling initiative. Speaker 1 00:03:20 Leo rolled a 16, the captain rolled a 29 and Sabine rolled a dirty 20. The rest Speaker 5 00:03:35 Of the crew was going to be around for narrative purposes and can be pulled in if we need them. But right now, those are the people that are in the combat machine that I am running. Speaker 2 00:03:45 The pirates that are going to be fighting with defiance roll as a group, there are two of them and they got a 13. Now I'm going to roll for fee who got a dirty 20. And since she has a higher initiative than to be, and she's going to go first. Now I'm going to roll for defiance Speaker 5 00:04:07 A nine. Okay. So first up in our initiative, we have the captain who is going to use his movement to move the 15 feet from the bottom deck of the banshee up on to the upper decks, where the helm is, he's going to get within striking distance of defiance and do one of his swashbuckler features, which is Speaker 1 00:04:30 Something called pinash. Speaker 5 00:04:33 He is going to use his attack action to roll a persuasion check against her Speaker 1 00:04:39 Insight check. So Speaker 5 00:04:41 We'll do that first and see what happens next. So to persuasion, the captain rolled Speaker 1 00:04:46 A 17, okay. Speaker 2 00:04:49 Defiance doesn't have great insight, but she rolled a 21. Speaker 1 00:04:56 Damn it. Okay. So he just burned his turn. He volts Speaker 5 00:05:01 Up there into her combat space, levels, his sword at her and just see thing. Speaker 1 00:05:07 It goes, how many of my people defiance, how many of them are there? Speaker 2 00:05:14 Defiance raises her eyebrows and smiles, a crooked little smile and says, oh sweetie, I lost count. And Speaker 5 00:05:25 The captain burned his action, trying to do that. So we're moving on. Fi that brings us down to you. I'm going Speaker 2 00:05:33 To run up next to the captain on the upper deck, and I'm going to get defiance and her first mate, the pirate next to her in a lightning bolt. All right. So I'm casting it at fifth level. So I'm going to go ahead and roll deck saves for them. It's roll for the first mate. First, that's a 10. That's not going to save. And defiance rolled a dirty, so she is going to save, but she's still going to take half damage. And at fifth level, a lightning bolt does 10 D six damage. Okay. So to start with that Speaker 0 00:06:12 Is 40. And then I'm gonna use a sorcery point to reroll five. So that's 50 Speaker 2 00:06:20 Damage. And then defiance is within 10 feet of me. So she takes an extra five because I'm casting a spell that does Speaker 0 00:06:25 Lightening damage. So that is Speaker 2 00:06:28 50 for the pirate behind her. And defiance Speaker 0 00:06:31 Takes 30. And then at Sabine stern, before Sabine goes, all of you are Speaker 5 00:06:40 Standing on the deck fee. You run up absolutely Frye. This pirate that is behind defiance, Insta, Speaker 0 00:06:46 Kill it. Defiance looks like that didn't feel good and that she didn't enjoy it. And Speaker 5 00:06:53 Behind you, you hear the sounds of the crew hitting the deck. If you take a moment to look over your shoulders, you see you swinging across on a grappling hook with her sword out in one hand. And she screams goes into a rage, her storm or rebels out around her. And she carves through like two pirates in one swipe boots and Pelican hit the deck. Not far behind her. Pelican goes feet first onto the floorboards fires off an Eldritch blast. And as a pirate comes up behind him with a sword raised boots, edges him out of the way, takes the sword, hit to the shoulder, but then absolutely eviscerates this dude with a battle ax. Speaker 0 00:07:37 And then Savine Speaker 5 00:07:39 Is going to take her Speaker 0 00:07:41 Turn. She's going Speaker 5 00:07:43 To move up towards the bow of the ship where this other pirate officer is standing and cast a fourth level dissonant whispers on him. So he is going to make a wisdom saving Speaker 0 00:07:56 Natural 17. Okay? Speaker 5 00:07:59 He's not frightened. He doesn't have to run away. And he's only taking half of the 66 psychic days. So he, he takes 12 psychic damage. As Sabine runs up on him, does a little dance move, jingles her wrist cuffs a little Speaker 0 00:08:15 Bit and goes, I wonder what they're going to tell your family. Speaker 5 00:08:23 Then it's Leo's turn. So he is going to run down across the deck and up the other staircase to get behind this guy while Sabina's distracting him with his Speaker 0 00:08:32 Movement. And because Sabine has a Speaker 5 00:08:35 Flank, he is going to get advantage on this attack. He's going to try to hit this guy with a third level inflict wounds. That's a 16 that's going to hit. And I am going to use my camera's blade feature to go ahead and get sneak attack on the spell. So I'm going to add another D to this five D 10 than I'm already rolling. That is 45 necrotic damage, which is way more than Leo needed to be able to run up behind this guy while Sabine has him distracted knife him in the back, dump this inflict wounds into him and kill him dead in one stab. So both of these other pirates are dead, which means it's defiance has Speaker 0 00:09:22 Turned. So defiance is going to cast crown of Speaker 2 00:09:26 Madness. I need the captain to make me a Wiz save Speaker 0 00:09:31 17 defiance. The, you see as an 18 shit. So defiance is going to use her movement to back up grinning maliciously as Speaker 2 00:09:44 A crown of twisted JAG and iron materializes in the air around the captain's head and his eyes start to glow Speaker 0 00:09:55 A bright poisonous green, and then it is the Speaker 2 00:09:59 Captain's turn. So can I get him to make a melee attack Speaker 0 00:10:02 On fi oh, I hate it here. 17 fees AC is 16 with the shield that's going to hit Speaker 5 00:10:14 Because defiance backed up and he's got his good sword. It's going to be one D eight and then 66 for rakish audacity. I hate this. So that's 29, but because fi has warning bond from that spell with Leo, it's going to get halved to 15. Speaker 0 00:10:34 He takes Speaker 5 00:10:34 A swing at her because he has to, his body is moving. Not like he usually does. It's very clear that he's being puppeted and there are tears streaming out of his eyes. As he lunges forward, he gets fee for that 15 damage. And Speaker 0 00:10:52 From all the way across Speaker 5 00:10:54 The ship, Leo staggers forward, and a bloom of blood appears across his shirt exactly where feed just got stabbed. But then he's allowed to use his movement, which he is going to use to get the fuck away from fie. After he realizes what's happening to him, he runs all the way to the stern of the ship. And then he gets to try to whiz save out Speaker 0 00:11:17 15. He doesn't do it fee Speaker 5 00:11:20 As your turn. The captain has just stabbed you in the chest and you get the feeling that it should have hurt way more than it did, but you saw Leo stagger forward and take some of that damage for you. And then he books it away from you and flattens himself up against the back railing of the ship and is just through gritted teeth, grinding out, Speaker 0 00:11:41 Run run. Fee's gonna bolt down the stairs and try to get towards the middle of the ship more. And then Speaker 2 00:11:52 She's gonna use her action to cast the fifth level, which Walt on defiance. Okay. Roll to hit. Natural 15 is a 25. That's absolutely gonna hit roll damage. Uh, I'm going to use another sorcery point to do empowered Speaker 0 00:12:08 Spell. So that's 50 lightning damage. So defiance has Speaker 2 00:12:13 To make a DC 25 con save to keep concentration on that kind of madness, which she can Speaker 0 00:12:19 Do. And because of her war Speaker 2 00:12:21 Castro feet, she gets advantage on the safe. One of those was a natural 20. Yep. She saves Speaker 0 00:12:31 The crown of madness is sill up and insult to injury. Defiance Speaker 2 00:12:36 Is going to cast a fourth level. Hello should be a gone fee. Speaker 0 00:12:39 As a reaction. Sophie's going to make a deck save 18. That'll lit defiance Speaker 2 00:12:47 Straightens up with a snarl, holds her or about and casts. This high-level hellish rebuke. And the dark lightning in her orbs starts to coalesce almost like smoke and go Jagen and reaches out towards Speaker 0 00:13:02 Fee. But here's the thing of this five D 10 damage fee only takes half because she rolled the save. And then she takes half of that because she is resistant to lightning damage. And Speaker 2 00:13:16 Then Leo gave her resistance to everything with warding bonds. So she takes an eighth of the full damage. So fi and Leo both take three damage from one of defiance to fourth level smells lots. So Speaker 5 00:13:33 Leo and fi both take this damage from all the way across the ship. Leo flinches, just a little bit as he feels the shock of the damage, it looks down and sees what fie has done. As far as sloughing off all this lightning damage Speaker 0 00:13:46 Goes. He looks up Speaker 5 00:13:48 At defiance and does a little upward nod Speaker 0 00:13:51 And goes, oh man, did Speaker 5 00:13:53 I just touch a door knob or something? That stuff a little bit. And then it is to beans turn. So BNCs fee take this damage from the hellish rebuke, even though it's not much, but since she has a dead pirate in front of her, with Leo standing behind him holding a knife, she figures her talents are of use elsewhere and goes taking off down the stairs to the lower decks and gets one hand around fee's shoulder casts, cure wounds. At second level, Speaker 0 00:14:23 Sophie's going to get 11 hit points back from that. She Speaker 5 00:14:27 Shakes her wrists, dumps all these healing points back into fee Speaker 0 00:14:31 And goes, are you okay? Uh, fine, but that helped. Thank you. Speaker 5 00:14:38 She looks around at the carnage happening. The crew are just spilling over onto the deck of this ship and fighting these pirates. So being Clapsey on the back and goes, go kick her ass. And she's going to give fi a D Tana bardic inspiration. And now we are down to Leo who is going to move to be within 30 feet of defiance. He's going to run away from the pirate that he just killed and go back to the lower deck. After Sabine, Speaker 0 00:15:07 He raises Kim rolls blade and points it at her and go, Hey defiance, remind Speaker 5 00:15:13 Me again. Who's head's going to be swinging off the bow sprit and casts a fourth level blight. I'm using my camera's blade feature to do max damage on that. She's going to need to roll me a con save Speaker 0 00:15:24 19. Okay. So she does Speaker 5 00:15:27 Save on that, but she is still gonna take half of max damage. Max damage is 64. So she's going to take 32 damage from it regardless. Haley Oromia deck save Speaker 0 00:15:41 23. Okay. So you take Speaker 2 00:15:44 Half of this 4d 10 lightening damage as defiance casts, a third level of it should be gone. You that's 15 lightening damage as defiance whips around the look Speaker 0 00:15:56 At you still grinning Speaker 2 00:15:59 Brightly with just malice. Speaker 0 00:16:05 Isn't that cute? You think you can play in the big leagues and then she whips her orb Speaker 2 00:16:12 Handout at you and dark void lightning. Just crackles into your Speaker 0 00:16:16 Chest. Oh Speaker 5 00:16:18 Yeah. It didn't feel good, but fee's not going to take that damage because warning bond only works one way. I only take damage when she does it. Doesn't go the other way. So that's fine. Leo still got over 50 hit points. He can take a couple. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:16:33 Okay. So it's defiance his turn. Speaker 2 00:16:37 She snarls and drops the crown of madness on the captain, the iron crown around his head, fizzles away as defiance uses her cleansing touch ability to end fees, which bolt. So she is no longer able to be damaged by that. He will have to roll to hit her again, if she wants to. And then for her bonus action, she is going to use one of her layer actions, which allow her to call other members of her crew into combat, Speaker 1 00:17:05 To support her. She gets to do Speaker 2 00:17:08 This three times a day and she gets to roll one D six for how many of her pirates join in. It's a five, four of the bog standard pirates, and one fully trained to Sherry and battle. MEJ dip out of the combat they're currently involved in and their crew members swarm around who they are fighting with to give them the space to back out. And they'll all drop in, ready to come to defines his defense. I have placed them on the map and we're back at the top of the order with the captain. Oh, okay. Speaker 5 00:17:48 That's a lot aggro in very bad places on the map. Um, I mean, magically right now, defiance is still the biggest threat and the captains out from under that crown of madness. So he's gonna run up in Melay range Speaker 1 00:18:01 Of her. And Speaker 5 00:18:04 Right now he is focused on keeping her off of everyone else so they can handle all of these pirates. He's going to try to do the pinash maneuver again. So he's going to roll persuasion. Defiance is going to roll insight to persuasion. He rolled a 25 Speaker 2 00:18:25 Mechanically defiance cannot roll at 25, 10 Speaker 0 00:18:28 Site. So that's going to do it. Okay. So mechanically here's what's going on. Defiance has Speaker 5 00:18:36 Disadvantage on attack, rolls against targets and cannot make opportunity attacks against creatures other than the captain for the next minute or until one of our other allies engages with her, or she gets more than 60 feet away Speaker 0 00:18:52 From him. Okay? Sure thing. Speaker 5 00:18:55 The captain drops out of this crown of madness. Spell takes off running for defiance skids in front of her. As she tries to move and levels the blade of his Cutlass at her Speaker 0 00:19:07 Throat, I've had quite Speaker 5 00:19:09 Enough. You making me responsible for her hurting the people I love. And then over his shoulder, he shouts she's mine. You handle the rest Speaker 0 00:19:17 Of them, but that's his action. He can attack this round. Speaker 5 00:19:22 And with that fi we are down to you Speaker 0 00:19:27 Fi is Speaker 2 00:19:27 Going to move five feet to the side and cast a lighting bolt at two of Speaker 0 00:19:31 The pirates in front of her. So that's going to be at fourth level. So I'm going to have them both make deck saves. Speaker 2 00:19:40 That's a 9, 10, 11. One of them Speaker 0 00:19:42 Was going to save the guy Speaker 2 00:19:44 That is up on the captain because he is surrounded right now is going to fail the save and take full damage. The one right in front of fee is going to take half. Speaker 0 00:19:55 I'm going to use empowered spell. So I'm going to read a real five of those. Okay? So that's going to be 35 lightning damage on the guy that's up on the captain. So half Speaker 2 00:20:08 Of that is 18 for the eye in front of me, but the guy that's in front of feed because he is within 10 feet of her is going to take an additional five lightning damage. Speaker 0 00:20:18 And then it's Sabine's turn. So Speaker 5 00:20:21 What Sabine is going to do first is use one of her college of glamour, Bard traits called mantle of inspiration. Speaker 0 00:20:30 You are all Speaker 5 00:20:31 Within 60 feet of her. So what she is going to do is grant all of you 11 temporary hit points, Speaker 0 00:20:39 And then allow Speaker 5 00:20:40 Each of you to move up to your speed without provoking any opportunity attacks. She did was a very complicated dance move, where she spins around flicks her wrists and then stomps her foot down. And as her bells jingle a ripple of healing, magic comes out from her and touches you Leo and the captain. Speaker 0 00:21:05 Everybody kind Speaker 5 00:21:05 Of turns to look at her as this big wave of sound comes out when she stomps her foot down and she just yells go. And then for her action, she's going to cast a third level, dissonant whispers at the pirate in front of her. So he's going to make a whiz save Speaker 2 00:21:24 18. So he saves, but he is going to take half of this five D six, psychic D. Speaker 5 00:21:32 That was 23. So it's half to 12. It was using his reaction to move his full 30 foot walking speed up onto the bow of the ship to get within attack range of this battle. Speaker 0 00:21:45 MEJ the captain Speaker 5 00:21:48 Appreciates that temp, HP, but he is standing his ground and remaining engaged with defiant Speaker 0 00:21:55 Fear. Are you headed anywhere with your reaction? I'm going to try to get between Speaker 2 00:21:59 The captain and the guy that I hit with a lightning bolt. That's going to stab him in the back any second now. Okay. You absolutely managed Speaker 0 00:22:06 To do that. You are now Speaker 5 00:22:09 At a right angle, kind of between this pirate and the captain. The captain is at a diagonal from him. And now we are down to Leo who has to use less than 10 feet of movement to finish closing on this main page and twirls his knife around Speaker 0 00:22:24 His finger and stabs at him for a fourth level inflict. Speaker 6 00:22:31 That's exactly 12. That's just going to hit his AC holy shit. Speaker 0 00:22:37 That said, Speaker 5 00:22:37 I am going to use the second charge of my new Kimball's blade feature that lets me add sneak attack to this 60 10 necrotic damage that I'm about to do 46. I won it. K O M. Speaker 0 00:22:53 Yes you do. All right. Speaker 2 00:22:57 And with that, it's down to the pirates. The first one's going to roll to tack from the captain. Speaker 0 00:23:07 So that's 23 damage on the captain, given the 11 Speaker 5 00:23:10 Temp HP. He got from Sabine. Oh Speaker 4 00:23:13 No, he's at 103. Oh no. Speaker 0 00:23:18 All right. Second Speaker 2 00:23:19 Pirate is going to use both of as long sort of tax on fee. The one that is taxed, the captain is going to use his, uh, ShapeUp eat dog Speaker 0 00:23:28 Reaction to let his buddy rewrote one of his tax. It's not going to hit though. Speaker 2 00:23:36 So one of those is going to hit fee, takes one D 10 plus five damage. Speaker 0 00:23:40 So nine, she and Speaker 2 00:23:43 Leo are both going to take half of that, which rounds up to five third, Pirate's going to tax the bean. Oh, that's two natural eighteens. Those are going to hit, oh my God, Speaker 0 00:23:58 The bean, she's Speaker 2 00:24:00 Going to take 2d 10 plus 10 damage, Speaker 0 00:24:05 19 damage for Savannah and Speaker 2 00:24:08 The fourth, one's going to make two swings on Leo Speaker 0 00:24:12 One, the natural 19, the Speaker 2 00:24:15 Other one, the pirate fighting Sabine is going to use his shape up your dog. So that's a 15 out of that. I, yep. That's a 2430 20, Speaker 0 00:24:24 So 2d 10 plus 10 damage Leo 19. Speaker 2 00:24:30 And then it is defines his turn. Speaker 0 00:24:35 So Speaker 2 00:24:35 First of all, she's going to use her action to use all 75 of her lay on hands points and give herself back those 75 hit points. Speaker 0 00:24:43 So good for her bad for us. And then Speaker 2 00:24:47 She is going to use her bonus action to invoke another one of her layer actions and call in more pirates. Oh, so I'm going to roll a D six D and as the science calls out for reinforcements to Assurion battle mages, turn their focus on you. Speaker 0 00:25:13 Ah, one of them is up on the Speaker 2 00:25:18 Top deck near the front on a flank with Leo and the pirate that he's engaged Speaker 0 00:25:22 With. And the other is down on Speaker 2 00:25:26 The main deck, uh, kind of behind a mask. So he is not in melee range of Sabine, but probably he's going to focus on her because he's closest to her. Speaker 5 00:25:39 And then we are back up at the top with the captain. He is not going to be able to get his rakish audacity on this one, because he has a bunch of pirates within five feet of him. So he's just going to be rolling a regular attack on the Speaker 0 00:25:53 That's a dirty 20, which is going to hit, but he only does 12 damage. It's actually six defiance Speaker 2 00:26:03 Has resistance to slashing piercing and bludgeoning damage from non magical weapons. Speaker 0 00:26:09 Well, shit. And that's Speaker 5 00:26:11 All he can do this round. He was at her and doesn't do a whole lot of damage fee. Speaker 0 00:26:18 Okay. Speaker 2 00:26:19 I'm going to cast a fourth level, which bolt on the pirate next Speaker 0 00:26:23 To me. Uh, that's the 17 that's going to hit. So that's going to be 40 12. So I'm going to use a sorcery point from Howard smell. Speaker 2 00:26:34 So that's going to be a total of 41 damage. And then he's within 10 feet of me. So he takes an extra five. Oh, he's very dead. He's very Speaker 5 00:26:44 Dead. You light this guy up and his skeleton flashes and he just drops to the, Speaker 0 00:26:50 Okay. And then I'm going Speaker 2 00:26:51 To move up to try to give the captain a flank on defiance. Speaker 5 00:26:57 And then we are down to Sabine who sees all of these reinforcements turning about to engage with your party. She locks eyes with the major. Who's a couple squares away from her on the map, Speaker 0 00:27:09 Breaks out into a big Speaker 5 00:27:11 Grin, her gold tooth flashing in Speaker 0 00:27:13 The moon and goes, you know, usually Speaker 5 00:27:16 In combat let's dance has a little bit more of a metaphorical meaning, but I don't see where the fun in that is. And then she jingles both of her wrist, bracers and casts, autos irresistible dance. The major is going to have to roll me a wisdom as a five. Yes. Okay. So he's dancing now and he gets disadvantaged on all saving throws ability checks and attack roles. And also everybody has advantage on attacks against him and he'll have to burn his turn to save out every round. Speaker 0 00:27:51 And then it's Leo's Speaker 5 00:27:52 Turn. He is going to use his cunning action to bonus action disengage from the pirate and the battle mates that have him flanked uses movement to jump down off the upper deck and onto the main deck and move out towards the side. He's not within melee range of either the major or the pirate that are down here. And he's going to use his last fourth level spell slot to cast a Ray of sickness at the major that is in the irresistible dance. So I'm going to get advantage. Yeah. And Speaker 2 00:28:24 He's going to take double damage because it's poison damage. So that's a 26 to hit and I'm Speaker 5 00:28:32 Going to roll five D eight poison damage. That's a 19, which is still 38 and that's not enough to one hit. K O M wait. I have one more use of sneak attack. Can I add that on after I hit, I have one more charge on camera's blade to add sneak attack to a spell. Speaker 0 00:28:56 Yeah, go ahead. Watch me roll a one five. He's dead. And Speaker 2 00:29:04 Then we're down to defiance his crew. And the major that you just gave the high ground on you and Sabine Speaker 0 00:29:10 Is up first. So he's going to back up onto the bow sprit and use Speaker 2 00:29:16 His single fifth level spell slot to cast a cone of cold. Speaker 0 00:29:20 So I'm going Speaker 2 00:29:21 To need Leo and Sabine to make deck saves. And I'm going to roll one for fi and two for both of the pirates of defiance, his crew that are going to be caught Speaker 0 00:29:30 In this blast. Leo got a dirty 2015 for Sabine, but that's enough to save. And then I'm Speaker 2 00:29:40 Going to roll for the pirate NPCs that are caught in the cross. They both fi is standing just within the bounds of this cone. She will be fine, even if she takes full damage, Speaker 0 00:29:55 Both because she has enough hip points to deal with it. And because Speaker 2 00:30:00 She has resistance right now because of warding Speaker 0 00:30:02 Bond, because of that, Speaker 2 00:30:06 Leo who has 43 hip points right now will take half of whatever damage fee takes. Speaker 0 00:30:12 So let's hope he saves. That's a natural 17. That's a dirty 20 fee saves. Okay. Eight D eight damage Speaker 2 00:30:28 32. So everybody is taking 16 damage except for fee who is taking eight and Leo who is taking 24. Uh, this may as does friendly fire murder. The one of his friends that is standing next to Sabine, Speaker 0 00:30:44 And then it's the next pirates turn. And that's the one that Speaker 2 00:30:47 Is up on the captain, given defiance a flank. So he's going to take too long sort of tax on the captain. And he's going to get advantage on both because the Divine's is flanking. Speaker 0 00:31:01 No, oh, he's only going to hit Speaker 2 00:31:06 With one of those, but he did roll in that 20. Speaker 0 00:31:10 So the captain takes 18 damage. Okay. So this Speaker 2 00:31:15 Pirate that is up on the upper deck with the major is going to run down. Leo is the closest target he's going to make too long sort of tax on Leo. One of those is not going to hit it's a nine, but the other one that 18 that's going to hit Speaker 5 00:31:34 That did not feel good. Leo has 14 hit points. Speaker 2 00:31:38 So then it's defiance is turn and she's going to make a long sword attack on the captain. Speaker 0 00:31:45 That was a natural 19. That's going to hit. So she's going to do one D eight plus eight damage on that 13. And then she's Speaker 2 00:31:58 Going to expand her fourth level spell slot to do a divine Speaker 0 00:32:01 Smite. So Speaker 2 00:32:03 That's going to be another 68 radiant damage, 35 additional damage. And she gets two attacks per action. So she's going to make another one. It's a natural 18. That's going to hit. Okay. So she rolls one to eight for the sword. Six plus eight is 14. And she adds the da because she can just do that with her improved vines might every time she hits. So that's another four. So 18 total that attack. And since she hasn't used her bonus action, she's going to add a thunder, a smite, which is another 2d six damage too. And then I needed the captain to make me shrink, save DC 18, 14. That's not going to do it. So the captain has pushed back 10 feet into the railing of the ship and knocked prone. Speaker 5 00:33:09 Okay. The captain has 17 hit points left. He goes flying back through the air crashes into the railing and crumbles to the ground in Speaker 1 00:33:18 A heap, but then Speaker 5 00:33:21 Digs the point of his Cutlass into the wood of the deck and gets back up. Speaker 1 00:33:26 He's gonna use his Speaker 5 00:33:27 Half movement from getting up from being knocked prone, to move back onto defiance, his other side point of sword at her. Again, he coughs up a good bit of blood. You won't be dead last. You'll have to try a little harder than that. And because FI's flanking her, he's going to get advantage to hit her 26. Speaker 2 00:33:51 That's absolutely going to do it, get her. Speaker 5 00:33:55 And he gets sneak attack because fie is flanking. So that was a total of 31 damage. But since defiance is resistant to all of that, she's only gonna take 16. Speaker 2 00:34:09 I need the captain to make me a DC 18 deck safe, natural 19 plus 9 28. Okay. So he takes half damage as defiance snarls, sweetie. I'm just getting warmed up Speaker 1 00:34:29 And casts say third level hellish rebuke. That is seven lightning damage. Speaker 5 00:34:36 He Dodges the worst of it. He's at 10 head points. He is still up and now it is Feaster. Speaker 2 00:34:43 Okay. Fi takes in the situation going on in this upper deck. Yeah. I don't think she's going to say anything. She's just going to grab the captain and cast thunder Speaker 1 00:34:53 Step. I'm Speaker 2 00:34:55 Going to roll concerts for defiance and the pirate behind her defiance rolls 22 and the pirate roles Speaker 1 00:35:04 An add 20. Speaker 2 00:35:06 So they're both going to save and take half of this 3d 10 thunder damage. So they both take eight thunder damage as feed grabs the captain and thunder steps them up on top of the main mast. And that does mean that warding bond and pinash are both ended because fie is more than 60 feet away from Leo. And she has made attack on defiance. You Speaker 5 00:35:31 Warp out of the teleportation and the captain's staggers up against you and coughs up a more alarming amount of blood, like had her on the ropes. Speaker 3 00:35:44 You didn't shut up and sit down. Speaker 5 00:35:51 You know, usually I get all tingly inside when you catch authoritative with me like that last, but I think you're right. And now it's, Sabine's turn. Speaker 1 00:36:01 I have a little Speaker 5 00:36:03 Bit of an unorthodox idea for how this is going to go, Speaker 1 00:36:06 But we'll see what happens. Sabina Speaker 5 00:36:10 Watches you thunder. Step up into the crow's nest turns on her heel and takes off running back for the upper deck where the main page, the cast that cone of cold is still balanced on the bow sprit. She has just enough movement to get up within five feet. Also balancing holding onto one of the ropes to keep her upright. As she shuffles out along the bow sprit, she does a quick little dance move and Speaker 1 00:36:35 Stomps her foot down and goes, Speaker 5 00:36:38 You know, isn't it hilarious that a bunch of mangy pirates are going to be what kills you Speaker 1 00:36:44 And casts? Tasha's hideous. Laughter. The major's Speaker 5 00:36:47 Going to have to make a wisdom saving, throw 13. That's a failure. Okay. Since he's balancing on the bow sprint, falling Speaker 1 00:36:59 Prone would mean what Speaker 2 00:37:03 I'm going to roll a D 20 and unless he rolls a Nat 20 right now, he falls off the ship. Speaker 3 00:37:11 That's the three, this major is fucking gone. Okay. Speaker 5 00:37:16 And now we're down to Leo who really should heal himself, but isn't going to, because he's an idiot. He's going to make a regular old stab attack on the pirate right in front of Speaker 1 00:37:27 Him, 26. So that's going to hit. So he's going to do Speaker 5 00:37:32 His one D six plus five damage to start. Speaker 1 00:37:36 So that's 10 damage. And then Speaker 5 00:37:38 He is going to use his channel divinity touch of death to add an extra 23 necrotic damage Speaker 1 00:37:44 To the attack. The pirate had 29 hit points left. He is dead. Speaker 5 00:37:50 And then as a free action, he's going to turn over his shoulder, look up into the crow's nest, where fie is and yell. I've got an idea. I need cover fire and crowd control. Get everybody to the front of the ship can do. And then we are down to our, the last remaining pirate and defiance. Speaker 0 00:38:12 Well, our Speaker 2 00:38:13 Last pirate friend can just barely move far enough to get into melee range with Leo. So he's going to roll two long sword attacks, but they were both fours. Fuck. Yes is on the die. So he rolled two nines. He misses both times Speaker 5 00:38:33 Extremely injured. Leo Dodgers out of the way, looking very frightened. Speaker 0 00:38:39 And that is to find cistern, can I get the captain to make me a whiz safe, come on with this natural 20 natural 20 each shit defiance. So Speaker 2 00:38:57 Defiance casts, the crown of madness and this iron crown slowly start to coalesce in the air around the captain's head and that it just dissolves into nothing. Speaker 0 00:39:11 Uh, Speaker 2 00:39:12 So yeah, and that's her action. Uh, she's gonna use her full movement to run down and give her pirate friend, hang on Leo. And as her bonus action, she's going to use her third and final air action to call in one D six of pirates Speaker 0 00:39:28 As a three. So she's Speaker 2 00:39:31 Going to call in another to Assurion battle Speaker 0 00:39:33 Mages and one regular pirate. And now it's captain stern. Uh, Speaker 5 00:39:42 He's up in the crow's nest with fees. So he doesn't really have any attack options. He looks over it fi wipes the blood off of his face and goes, you've got to let me go down there Sabine and Leo can heal me up. I'm no use to anyone up here. How are you planning to get down there? Genius Speaker 2 00:40:05 Gestures to the 50 foot drop out of the crow's nest. I've got a ride. Speaker 5 00:40:13 He leans over the railing and yells Sarbane express trip. If you don't mind and Sabine still balancing on the bow, sprit goes, you got it fee. It is your turn. Next. Speaker 2 00:40:30 I'm going to cast a storm sphere over the entire back half of the ship. That's my last fourth levels false up, but I'm going to angle it so I can get defiance. The pirate that's up on Leo. And one of the majors that just entered the column, Matt, okay. Defiance, the pirate and the major, all gonna make strength, saving throws, or take 2d six bludgeoning damage and everybody on the ship excepts to being the captain and fee right now with where we're all positioned has disadvantaged on perception checks to listen or get any information in an auditory medium, uh, because it's fuck off loud here. Now, every single one of them failed that safe. Every single one of them failed out saved. So they're all taking 2d six bludgeoning damage. So they're all gonna take eight bludgeoning damage as fi brings her hands up and then just slams them down at her sides as a sphere for 20 feet in every direction, erupts beneath her with Royal Lang storm clouds and flashing lightning. And then it's Sabine Sharon Sabine. Speaker 5 00:41:48 Here's the captain request her aid and moves down off of where she was balancing on the bowel sprit. She's going to move 10 feet down to be up against the railing at the bow of the ship. And she's going to cast dimension door fee. You were standing there in the crow's nest. So you see this happen. A swirling portal of fiery yellow and gold and red light appears in the air behind the captain. And then as a bonus action, Sabine is going to use another use of mantle of inspiration. So everybody gets 11 temporary hit points and gets to use their reaction to move up to their full speed, which will AE allow Leo to get out of this combat range with defiance and the other pirate. And B allows the captain to lean in, give you a quick kiss, Speaker 1 00:42:49 CLA her last Speaker 5 00:42:52 And completely trust. Fall backwards into this dimension door. You see him crash through the door on the other side, right into Sabine's arms. And that is her turn Leo's up next. So he's going to use that reaction. He got from Sabine to move 25 feet up onto the upper deck. Get down on Sabine and the captain and with his turn, he is going to drop a prayer of healing on the three of them. So Leo, the captain and Sabine are all getting 20 hit points back. And since that movement he used just now was a reaction from his previous turn. He's going to use his cunning action to bonus action disengage and then his actual movement to run back down onto the lower deck avoiding what would have been an opportunity attack from the main page that's down there. He's going to get right back up on the edge of the storm sphere on a diagonal from defiance. Up next is the first of our made friends. The storms Speaker 2 00:44:11 Here is difficult terrain. So our major trend here is going to have to use a dash action to get out. They're going to have to run right past Leo. Is he going to use an opportunity attack? Speaker 5 00:44:25 No, I'm saving my reaction for someone else. Speaker 0 00:44:29 Okay. Speaker 2 00:44:30 And then the next pirates turn, Speaker 0 00:44:34 Pirate's Speaker 2 00:44:35 Gonna use their movement to try to get up to the upper decks and they start, they're turning the storms here. So they're going to have he's 10 feet just to get out, but they do run up to the upper decks and they're not within range to do a melee attack on anyone. And then it's the second major turn. And this is about to be interesting. Speaker 0 00:44:59 And our Speaker 2 00:45:00 Other major trend is going to use their single fifth level spell slot to cast a fifth level magic missile up Speaker 0 00:45:04 On fee. So that's Speaker 2 00:45:07 An automatic hit. It's kind of a 74 plus seven. Speaker 0 00:45:14 So that's a total of 28 damage on fee. So Speaker 2 00:45:18 She's going to have to roll a DC 14 con save. She gets plus six that's the 16 easily. If he keeps this armchair that eats up all the fees, tamp HP, and it puts her down quite a bit, but she is still standing in the crow's nest and she still has this warm syrup. And then as our second pirate friends turn, and this Pirate's going to go for Sabine and make two long sort of facts, the lower ones, a 15 to there, they're both going to hit. So to be in takes 2d 10 plus 10 damage. So Sabine takes 22 slashing damage and then it's defines his turn. She's gonna run up onto the upper deck. Leo. She pays, you know, mind. She just blows right past you. Do you want to take opportunity attack oven waiting for this one? Turn it up Speaker 0 00:46:13 Dirty 20 that'll hit. Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Um, I'd like to use my other channel divinity. So Speaker 5 00:46:20 First off she's taking 11 damage just from the stab with camera's blade. And then she's going to take an additional 23. So that's 34 damage on defiance. As she goes to run past him, a Leo gets her by the back of the shirt and yanks her back and into her ear goes, you know, for somebody that was talking a really big game about how fun and easy this was going to be. And then he jabs the knife into her back. You're looking a little worse for wear Leo, make me a deck save. Yeah, I figured that was going to happen. It 16. That's not going to do it. 23 lightening damage Speaker 2 00:47:11 Defiance worlds around casts, a hellish rebuke at you bares her teeth and just the vicious grin and says, hold that thought kid, I got bigger fish to fry and she takes her full movement around, up onto the upper Speaker 0 00:47:25 Decks. And then it's the cabinet and stern Speaker 5 00:47:30 Before the captain takes his turn as a free action. Leo is going to reel back from that hellish or Buke and hiss in pain, but then turn around over his shoulder to look at the captain captain. I would advise you to get the hell out of my way, preferably as close to the bow as Speaker 0 00:47:47 Possible. This is about to get interesting. And on his turn, the captain is going to listen Speaker 5 00:47:54 To Leo for once in his life because he's not feeling good. He's going to move through Sabine space, which is going to cost him 10 feet of movement instead of five, but then get up around the other side of her, to where they are now, both flanking, one of the pirates, and he's going to roll an attack with advantage for that 18. That's going to hit. And because Sabina's flanking, he gets to use this sneak attack on this Speaker 0 00:48:26 25 damage on the pirate and then fi it is your turn. I'm Speaker 2 00:48:33 Going to use a bonus action to call forth lightening from the storm sphere and make a range spell attack on the pirate that is between the captain and Sabine. That's a 27. That's absolutely going to hit. I'm going to use empowered, spell to reroll. Some Speaker 0 00:48:53 Of these that's going to be 20 lightning damage. And Speaker 5 00:48:58 That is literally the exact amount of damage you needed to kill this pirate. You see the captain stab him once and the pirate raises his long sword to repost the attack. And you just fry him with this lightning bullet and he drops to the deck dead. And Speaker 2 00:49:17 That I'm going to thunder, set myself back down to the deck next to the captain. And it's the bean. And then it's the bean stern Speaker 5 00:49:26 Sabine smirks back over at fie. As she teleports down onto the deck next to her in the captain, Speaker 0 00:49:32 Welcome back, impressive work. And then Speaker 5 00:49:35 She turns over to the captain who is still very bloody Speaker 0 00:49:39 And goes, what did I Speaker 5 00:49:40 Tell you about picking fights and then reaches out to press her hand to the side of his face, flicks her rest a little bit and casts a fourth level cure wounds on him, unfortunately, to be enrolled ass. So the captain only gets 16, hit points back from that, but the gesture is appreciated. And now it's Leo's turn likely, oh, said he had an idea. I want to ask some questions Speaker 1 00:50:11 Since you are kind of the person controlling the battle map right now, Speaker 5 00:50:17 I have a spell from my death cleric sheet called anti-life shell that casts a 10 foot fear around Speaker 1 00:50:28 Me. Speaker 5 00:50:31 If I were to stand in the middle of the ship, which is 20 feet across and cast this. And I happened to be standing on the same column in the grid as the two mages that are here right now, what would happen to them? Because all living creatures, anything that is not undead gets hedged out. When I cast the spell, Speaker 3 00:51:00 Um, I would say that they would get pushed to the railing and make deck saves to not fall off the ship. Okay. Speaker 5 00:51:11 You should do that. Cause I've been sitting on my one fifth level spell slot for this entire combat. And Leo runs up along the wall, separating the main deck from the upper decks gets right in line with these two mages and throws up an anti-life shell to keep anyone else from escaping down off the upper deck. Okay? Speaker 3 00:51:37 Both of these majors rolled natural ones to their tech save. I am not shitting you look at my dice tray right now with tune out. Once I launched them. Yeah, you fuck it. You cast this anti-life shell and both of these majors just instantly off the boat, they get scooped as if by like a snow shovel, just whoop gone, fucking gone. The rest of the crews of the banshee and the more I and the ship have been fighting around you. So I do think as this sphere just pushes people away. Most people kind of catch themselves on the railing. Pelican was fighting somebody about five feet in from the edge of where this sphere is. So the space around you gets completely cleared out, except for Pelican. Who's just standing there with a knife in hand and goes, huh? Oh yeah, Pelican. You're good. The bird says, oh dear. And then Pelican trucks and starts casting a spell. Speaker 1 00:52:56 Leo is Speaker 5 00:52:57 Not using his movement. This turn. He is standing his ground with this anti-life shell up because right now he effectively has defiance penned in, at the bow of the ship. And it is three on two Speaker 0 00:53:12 It's down to the pirate and defiance. The pirate Speaker 2 00:53:17 Is going to go for the captain since they are right next to each other. That's going to be two long sword attacks. And one of them going to be rolled with this advantage because fee is standing right there. Speaker 0 00:53:31 First one, the Nat two on a second one is a two. So a seven, but Speaker 2 00:53:39 One of them wasn't at 20. So that's going to be 2d 10 plus five. Kevin takes 20 damage. The captain Speaker 5 00:53:49 Takes 10 damage. He uses uncanny Dodge. Speaker 0 00:53:53 All right, it's defines his turn. She's going to run up on Faye and try to hit her with a long sword. First attack is the 22. That's going to hit. Second one second. One's not going to hit. Defines is going Speaker 2 00:54:10 To run up on fi and bring her sword up and say, you know, I know I was supposed to bring you in alive, but Speaker 0 00:54:18 Mistakes happen. And Speaker 2 00:54:21 She's going to hit with that long sword attack. And she's going to add her divine smite using a second level spell slot, which is going to let her add 3d eight. And with improved divines, might she gets another D eight automatically plus her one D eight from her actual sword. Speaker 0 00:54:38 And she's going to Speaker 2 00:54:39 Cast thunderous smite to add 2d six. So I'm going to roll all that fucking damage right now. So she does a total of 41 damage in one hit. And if he has to make a strength save, or we push back 10 feet, which will put her crashing into Sabine and both of them risking falling off the ship, natural 19, if he takes us thunder smite to the chest, but she is not pushed back. Speaker 0 00:55:17 She is bloody. She has three hit points right now, but she grins Speaker 2 00:55:22 Back in defiance and she says, I suppose they do. And she uses her one hell attribute of the day. So defies has got to make a deck save. That's the dirty 20, but she still takes half damage. So that is 11 damage for defiance. And then it's the captain stern. Speaker 5 00:55:44 Okay? The captain is engaged with this pirate. Fie is within five feet. She's flanking. So he's going to get sneak attack and advantage. That's an 18 that is going to hit him. That is 33 damage, which is way more than enough to kill this pirate. The captain takes advantage of the distraction being caused by defiance and fee, getting engaged with each other and lunges forward and fully cuts this guy Mayville to neck and lets them drop down on the deck and fee you are up. I'm going to use a bonus action Speaker 0 00:56:33 To have lightning shoot out of the storms here at defiance. That's a 19 to hit. That's going to do it. That's 12 Speaker 2 00:56:47 And then, oh, I'm so low on spells lots. Um, I'm going to cast the first level, which will matter. It's another natural 19. All right. So that's going to be one D 12 damage Speaker 0 00:57:02 Nine, Speaker 2 00:57:04 And then defiance is going to do a second level. How should we Oak? Sophie's going to make a deck save. It's a 16. I am going to use my inspiration die from Sabine. That's a six that's enough to do it. So if he's going to take half damage, 3d 10 that's, 22 damage, even half fees unconscious. Okay. Speaker 5 00:57:32 And now it's Sabine's turn. She is right behind fi she is going to lunge forward and get feed by the shoulder and cast cure wounds. She's going to do that at 15. Sophie's back up with 32 hit points. And now <inaudible> turn. He is still maintaining his concentration on this anti-life shell to prevent anything messing with what's going on on the front of the ship. He's going to cast spiritual weapon, make it pop up within five feet of defiance. That's a 10, so it doesn't hit. Speaker 0 00:58:14 And Speaker 5 00:58:15 Now, now with this last pirate down, the last round of our combat goes to defiance with a total of four hit points, bloody limping. She skirts around the edge of the captain's threatened area and shuffles out to the very tip of the bow spread, holding on to one of the ropes for support that the very edge she turns around, looking at all of you gathered in front of this barrier that Leo has put up at the back of the upper deck and throws her head back and laughs you're all out of your fucking minds. She snaps her head around to look at the captain. What do you think that you're going to stop it? You and your little fleet against the entire collected might of Australia. And then she turns to look at Sabine and you, you want the truth so bad, but if you knew it, it would turn your stomach. She looks over at Leo, still holding up this spell, keeping his concentration. Speaker 1 00:59:45 You want that thrown Speaker 5 00:59:46 So bad. You know what it sits on top of. And finally, fi she turns to look at you still gripping this orb avoid like lightning in her Palm Speaker 1 01:00:03 And you, I think you're the saddest. One of all Speaker 5 01:00:09 Putting all your faith behind a broken shell of a dead goddess. Believe you me. When the chips are down, when it really matters, the storm breaker is not going to help Speaker 1 01:00:22 You. Just like she didn't help me. I've seen what you're trying to stop. I've seen what's coming for all of you. Speaker 5 01:00:36 And I just hope I'm there to see it when it finally takes you. And then she turns around and jumps off the ship. She's going to make an athletics check to not take any fall damage from jumping into the ocean, Speaker 0 01:00:55 Natural 17. She definitely does that. And she's going to Speaker 5 01:00:59 Use the remainder of her action and her movement to dash swim away from the ship. The crew is easily able to handle the rest of the combatants left on this ship. And before long, you are all standing in an eerie depth soaked silence. So that combat sucked just for posterity. Let's talk about where we all are right Speaker 0 01:01:27 Now. The captain's at 46 head points fees at 32 and Speaker 5 01:01:35 Has three second level and four first level spell slots left Sabine's at 72 after a good bit of healing magic Speaker 0 01:01:44 And has a couple Speaker 5 01:01:45 Of each level except fifth of spell slots left because Bard's Leo is at 22 and has one second level and three first level spell slots left. Speaker 0 01:01:58 This sucked, this sucked so bad. Uh, Leo Romi perception really quick, 27, as you are Speaker 2 01:02:11 All gathered around the bouts, Brett, after defiance jumps off of her own ship, Speaker 0 01:02:17 You Speaker 2 01:02:18 Start see out of the corner of your eye, the approach of dozens of Sherry and sailing vessels. Well shit. Speaker 5 01:02:29 Okay. Two critical points about our next steps. First of all, should we like go after the captain Speaker 2 01:02:37 White symbol blood off of his mouth and says, ah, the sharks will handle it. Excellent. Speaker 5 01:02:44 That's probably the optimal solution to that problem. Given that the second one is that we have enough coming company. Speaker 0 01:02:51 Everybody Speaker 2 01:02:52 Turns to follow your line of sight, Speaker 0 01:02:55 Sabine, Speaker 2 01:02:56 Curses colourful and at length, the captain like scrubs a hand over his face Speaker 0 01:03:02 And he says, well, it would serve us to get the fuck out of here. It seems post-haste Speaker 5 01:03:12 Where we can't go back to Pearl port that defeats the whole purpose of everything we just Speaker 0 01:03:16 Did. I don't Speaker 2 01:03:18 Know. We'll go somewhere else to figure things out. I don't Speaker 0 01:03:25 Somewhere else. All Speaker 5 01:03:28 Right. Yeah. We're down to the wire and I have a little bit of a crazy pitch. Speaker 0 01:03:34 They happen says, well, given how close we're shaving things, crazy mode service. Well here, I think we might've just solved our blockade problem. Speaker 5 01:03:45 We need a way to get through it unnoticed. And we're standing on one of the flagships of the Australian Navy right Speaker 0 01:03:51 Now. We're on defiance as boat. There's a pause. As the ships are getting closer, Savine Speaker 2 01:04:01 Starts to grin crookedly and she says, well, and ostensibly, we have defiance. Okay. Speaker 5 01:04:09 I'm trying really hard to not be mean right now. Cause I get that. There was a lot that just happened, but did you like fully miss her big villain monologue followed by her jumping into the water? I just to clarify that, is it being raised as her eyebrows at you? And she says, did you like Speaker 2 01:04:26 Fully miss that? I'm the greatest Bard that's come out of a Sheria in the last 5,000 years. And then she raises her hand snaps and cast disguise self. And you watch like the physicality of her melt into defiance. Speaker 0 01:04:42 Oh, that is super fucking unsettling. The captain says that's nightmare feels what it is, turn it off. And he says, can't help but agree very to start by this Sabine Speaker 2 01:04:55 In an extremely Sabine and extremely not defiant move sticks her tongue out at both of them. And then turns back to you, Leo. And it's still her voice Speaker 0 01:05:04 Almost. And still Speaker 2 01:05:05 Very obviously Sabine's mannerisms. She says, I mean, I'll have to work on my defiance impression to fool anybody, but Speaker 5 01:05:14 You have to fool them as we're sailing past them at full speed. Speaker 0 01:05:16 Let's go. She turns the disguise self off. Leo looks over at the captain. How long do you think we have before those ships catch up? The captain looks at Speaker 2 01:05:30 The approaching ships clicks. His tongue says 15 minutes at the most feed, Speaker 5 01:05:38 You have the juice left to make them sail into the wind. Speaker 0 01:05:42 Uh, Speaker 2 01:05:43 If I go ahead and fuck with FI's sheets, she has just enough juice to cast a control wins. So she's going to go ahead and do that. It's a a hundred foot cube out in the middle of the pro port Harbor, just gusts blowing ships back. All right. So now we're looking like closer to 20 Speaker 0 01:06:02 Minutes, the captain nods scrubs a hand over his mouth, and then he Speaker 2 01:06:08 Yells over at where Miriam Adler is wiping blood off of her Cutlass. Speaker 0 01:06:12 Merriam. You think you can run things around here for a few months. Merriam Speaker 2 01:06:18 Looks up, raises her eyebrows and says, I think I could manage Speaker 0 01:06:22 That the captain nods back at her and he says, right, it's yours. Then Speaker 2 01:06:28 Muster all of our people that you can protect to the oils. And he looks around at the rest of the members of the fleet that are over on the banshee, cleaning up from this combat and Speaker 0 01:06:39 Yells we'll need about 15 to run this TOB, anyone that would like to see VoteBuilder you're welcome to say. And the situation started shaking out. Most people jumped back over, you see the captain Speaker 2 01:06:54 Ushering boots and Pelican back across to Speaker 0 01:06:57 The ship and you Speaker 2 01:06:59 Like stomps her foot and Speaker 0 01:07:01 Says, well, you're not leaving me behind here. And the captain pinches the bridge of his nose and says, look, the fact of it is Marianne is going to need help to run things. And you Speaker 2 01:07:14 Are one of the most authoritative people that I know. And I'm not risking yet on a fool's run across the Australian blockade. There's a long pause. And then you just like lunges forward and hugs him Speaker 0 01:07:29 And you hear her say better, come back. All right. And the captain reaches up and pats her back and says, I have a spawning on it. And I get on over there. All right. Savine from behind them yells and send Laura lie back. If you could, you said she gets to come and the captain just raises both hands and goes, no, my decision. And Speaker 2 01:07:55 You jumped the gap back to the ship grumbling. I stops before she jumps onto the banshee. And it's just like holding one of glasses, his hands, like two kids about to be separated after summer camp. Speaker 0 01:08:09 It's very adorable. But then she's gonna walk one of the boarding planks over to the banshee. Yeah. Speaker 5 01:08:16 I'm assuming things on deck are still pretty bad looking quite, Speaker 2 01:08:22 Uh, there are a lot of dead people on this boat right now. Leo Speaker 5 01:08:26 Is gonna set himself up as a little bit of a physical barrier right in front of Lorelei and tell her to look down at the floor and try to get her below decks. So she doesn't have to see a lot. Speaker 2 01:08:39 Oh yeah. She pops over. It seems to process what's going on around her, on the boat for a second Speaker 0 01:08:44 And then closes her eyes, put their hands over them. And guys, you, you, Speaker 5 01:08:50 I know, I know it's bad. Come on this way. And he's going to go get her settled below decks, somewhere safe. As soon as he does that, he's going to run right back up on deck and see how he is. I can help Speaker 2 01:09:02 The captain is staying over and helping you out. And a couple of the deck hands have jumped over to help run the banshee, but it's not a big boat. You don't need a huge crew. And all of the officers of the ship have stayed over Speaker 0 01:09:14 On it. People are hauling bodies Speaker 2 01:09:18 That they need to give proper funerals to back over to the ship. You could probably help figure out the sales. Okay, Speaker 5 01:09:26 I'm going to do that. But before I do, I'm going to lean over the railing and yell back to all of the officers in the I know, Speaker 0 01:09:34 We'll see you all soon. Thanks for everything. You all make your goodbyes and the banshee sales out of the pro court Harbor, Speaker 5 01:09:46 From where you are, even with the speed of the banshee, which is an incredibly fast ship. The captain still seems to eyeball that it's going to take a couple of weeks to make it to him. Tara, you spend the next several days, just trying to rest back up from the ordeal that you've been through. Leo heals you all back up to your full capacity, but it doesn't mean you don't still hurt. You are bruised all to shit and moving around hurts quite a bit for a couple of days, Leo is not doing much better. The captain broke several ribs and punctured a long wind defiance threw him back into the railing. So he's being very tender with his movements throughout the next few days, Speaker 0 01:10:33 You dropped a Speaker 5 01:10:34 Lot of big, bad magic in that fight. So you're exhausted in an arcane sense and physically your nerve damage from the lightning strike is acting up. It takes you a little while for Speaker 0 01:10:46 Recovery. You're Speaker 5 01:10:49 Up and about on a stormy gray morning, several days into your journey. Moving up towards the deck of the banshee. When you hear your brother cursing and shouting at somebody followed by the sharp tones of Sabine reprimanded, Speaker 0 01:11:08 Ooh, oh, I'm going to go investigate that you find Speaker 5 01:11:12 Leo on a stool on deck, just griping for all he's worth. While Sabine is standing behind him with a hairbrush and a pair of sewing scissors, cleaning up the awful split ends of his haircut that he did with the sword back in oh sky. Speaker 0 01:11:31 She's got one Speaker 5 01:11:32 Hand planted on top of his head, pushing down, going hold still, or it's going to look horrible. And Leo snaps back, I would, if you would stop yanking me around. I have a very tender scalp. Okay, Speaker 2 01:11:46 Well now if he is watching this just for the entertainment value, Speaker 5 01:11:50 Leo, but does sit a little more still upon the threat of his hair looking bad and just kind of Huff Speaker 0 01:11:56 Sadder. Fine. Speaker 5 01:11:59 Take it back up to about chin length. I don't think I'm going to grow it back. Yeah. Lower maintenance. This way. Sabine finishes cleaning up his haircut. At which point the captain comes walking across the deck, still being very tender with his movements. You notice he's keeping his arms tucked really close to. I have to say a lot. You struck me as an honest person until I heard you put low maintenance on yourself in the same Speaker 0 01:12:23 Sentence, fi pipes. And you should have seen his haircare routine when it was down to his hips. What will it take for you? People to leave me alone? I think Speaker 5 01:12:35 The captain and Sabine, all three, share a laugh. Yeah, your brother's expense. The captain laughs. And then winces shite. Oh anyway, Sabine captain's quarters for a minute. If you Speaker 0 01:12:51 Don't mind Sabina Speaker 5 01:12:54 Rounds at him for a second, but then finishes up the last couple snips on Leo's hair and then follows him across the deck and through the door of the captain's quarters. You're just left sitting there with Leo who is fluffing his hair out and checking his reflection and a small hand and mirror Speaker 0 01:13:10 Does the back look. Speaker 5 01:13:11 Okay. She went for like the stacked look and I'm not trying to look like somebody's mom. Speaker 2 01:13:17 Okay. I check that Leo's hair looks okay. It looks fine. It certainly looks better than it did yesterday. You've been impressively a blahzay about how it looks for the last few months. Why the sudden attitude change Speaker 0 01:13:36 Well other than, and Speaker 5 01:13:37 That Sabina is the first person I've met in as many months that has an actual fashion sense that I trusted to help me and salted go on. Speaker 0 01:13:46 Good. At any Speaker 5 01:13:48 Rate, we're going to be back in GIM, tar I'm soon around people we know and our friends and, Speaker 0 01:13:56 And I just, I don't want Speaker 5 01:13:58 To run back into people. I know looking like a hot mess is all. Why are you asking so many goddamn questions fi Speaker 0 01:14:06 Mm Hmm. She's gonna like sit next to him. Very prevalent, proper chin up on a hand and say, so we're worried about running into people. We know anyone in particular, perhaps someone six, two long hair emphatically, not Leo. Winces pretty hard. Hm. Hm. Look, Speaker 5 01:14:33 If all of this, this taught me anything fee it's that I shouldn't go or I'm not wanted. Speaker 0 01:14:39 And Zed that explicitly clear I'm not wanted. Speaker 5 01:14:44 So I'm done pursuing that line of thought. But I know that if I run back into Mia who you haven't had the displeasure of meeting yet, and my hair looks bad, I'm never going to hear the end of it. So I just let Sabine give me a haircut. Okay. It is. All right. All right. I'll stop pushing, Speaker 0 01:15:03 Reaches out and tell you that on his hair a little bit. How, what part of tender scalp did you not hear? You? Ass hat. It looks fine stuff stressing about it while Speaker 5 01:15:15 You're in close enough proximity. He reaches out and flicks you in the forehead. Hey yeah. Look, fat is aside. I know we've got another week or so to come up with a more concrete plan, but we really need to be thinking about what's going to happen when, and if we get past that blockade, Speaker 0 01:15:37 I, um, Speaker 5 01:15:40 Again, I'm not going to go where I'm not wanted, but unfortunately that's the only person that I know is in vaudeville. Dora. Right Speaker 0 01:15:46 Now I can start Speaker 5 01:15:49 Reaching out to some of my friends and trying to get a read on the situation with the sending spell to maybe give us a little bit of a direction. And now that I've got my magic back and didn't ask you last time, is there anyone you want me to talk? Speaker 2 01:16:04 If you felt comfortable reaching out to Fen or Colossae, that would be appreciated. Speaker 0 01:16:13 Yeah. Yeah. I can do that. I'll get Speaker 5 01:16:16 That handled here in the next couple of days. I want to save most of my magic for making food. And also because the captain won't fucking sit down and keeps reinjuring his ribs and making me patch him. Speaker 0 01:16:31 If you could frighten him a little bit, that would be appreciated. I'm not Speaker 2 01:16:35 Going to intimidate my boyfriend for you. Intimidate him yourself. Speaker 0 01:16:40 I have Speaker 5 01:16:40 Tried. He won't listen to me. He'll listen Speaker 0 01:16:43 To you. He likes because when you do it fee opens her mouth, raises a finger, closes it finger down and says gross that you know that not arguing. Don't play me. Blame him for having no subtlety. Anyway, I'm Speaker 5 01:16:58 Going to go check on Lorelei. I'll see you later. Speaker 0 01:17:00 Okay. Yeah. Later he waves him off. Speaker 5 01:17:06 Leo disappears below decks. And as you are starting to walk away and go about your own business. I'd like you to roll me perception really quick. Uh, that's a five. Speaker 0 01:17:19 Um, actually it's a 13, but I get it. Plus three to what the fuck are you talking about? I'm talking about your magical item leveling up. So the Speaker 5 01:17:31 Gift of the storm, or has gained another level of functionality on top of your free luck fee that you basically get where you can reroll three rolls a day. You now have kind of stolen the rogue and barred feature, liable talent. So any Gill that you are proficient in, if you roll below a 10, you treat that role as a 10. Sophie can not roll below a three 13 on perception. Now that Speaker 2 01:17:59 Will be useful because I always seem to roll on that one when I need a high perception role. Speaker 5 01:18:08 So with that 13, as you are moving past the captain's quarters, you can hear the sound of the captain and Sabine having a conversation inside. It doesn't seem like a particularly heated conversation. Their voices aren't raised or anything, but you do hear the captain sigh in frustration and say, Speaker 1 01:18:32 Look, I understand that Speaker 5 01:18:34 We have a better view on the circumstances that led to everything now, Sabine, but Speaker 1 01:18:40 We've still got a lot to forgive each other for Speaker 5 01:18:45 There's a pause and then Sabine answers. And what this is you telling me that you don't at least want to try. There's a noise of frustration. And then the sound of somebody scooting back a chair and standing up. Speaker 1 01:19:01 Of course I do. Speaker 5 01:19:04 But you were the one that taught me that optimism is not the advantage last. Speaker 1 01:19:09 So all I'm saying is if we can't, if shit goes sideways all over again, when the time comes, I will get out to the way heavens no, you two deserve to be happy. Speaker 5 01:19:26 You hear the sound of something heavy being slammed down onto a table. And Sabine's voice supremely frustrated goes, you beautiful idiot of a man. That is not what anybody here wants. I, you love her, right? There's another pause. And the captain goes, hi, Speaker 1 01:19:56 Andy, do you still love me? Speaker 5 01:20:01 There's another longer pause. And he is barely audible from the other side of the, as he says, I never stopped. Sabine makes another supremely frustrated noise and goes, then that's it. You realize that that literally can be in, right? I can not believe I am saying this to you. The captain. Why are you? Over-complicating this? Aye, I can't, I can't look at you right now. And then you hear footsteps and the door swings open right in front of your face with a frozen Sabine in the doorway. Speaker 0 01:20:44 Oh, hi. Fi fancy seeing you here. Speaker 2 01:20:52 Hi, I heard you two arguing and I figured I should stop and make sure everything was okay because the last time you two argued, there were knives involved. Sabine Speaker 5 01:21:07 Gives you this wobbly smile, like a woman who is on the absolute edge. Well, to be fair, there are knives involved in many of our interpersonal interactions. Will you please do something about this man before I kill him? And then she pushes past you out the door and walks away. You look inside this captain's quarters. You realize at this point that you haven't seen the inside of it yet. Everybody's kind of been staying in the crew's quarters since it's a smaller group of people sailing the ship. And also you reckon the captain and Sabina would both feel very fucking uncomfortable. Sleeping in defiance, Speaker 0 01:21:43 His room. Speaker 5 01:21:46 It's a very richly appointed captain's quarters table, full of maps, little dining suite. The captain is standing up behind the little dining table, leaning on it heavily for support. And his breathing is a little rough as he has his other hand pressed up rib cage. Speaker 0 01:22:05 Don't worry. Last you'll Speaker 5 01:22:06 Hear when it really fuck up. That's when Sabine starts throwing expensive. I don't know Speaker 2 01:22:10 Why you try to argue with her. So doesn't start fights that she doesn't think she can win because I'm a Speaker 5 01:22:16 Perfect storm of belligerent, stupid and tenacious. And she knew that when she married me. Yeah, we have that in common. Maybe she'll Speaker 2 01:22:25 Leave the two of us to be stupid and tenacious on our own. Would that make this easier for you? He kind Speaker 5 01:22:31 Of frowns at you and then pulls the chair that he had just stood up from back out so he can sit back down. You know, the sad thing is I can't tell if you're asking that to in good faith or just to be contrary Speaker 0 01:22:46 Either way. The answer is no, I don't think that make any of this easier for any of us. Neither do I. Speaker 2 01:22:54 And yet we have to have this conversation, Speaker 0 01:22:58 Right. Are what parts would you like to start with? The part where you knowingly Speaker 5 01:23:03 Go into a relationship with two people been trying to kill each other for the last 15 years or the parks where we both care about you so much that we actually stopped trying to kill each other Speaker 0 01:23:14 Two things. One to be fair. I didn't Speaker 2 01:23:17 Get involved with Sabine knowing that you two were married. So just to give me the benefit of that anyway, too, not to sound too self-aggrandizing but I would like to focus on the fact that you both love me. It's kind of a new feeling. I'm getting used to it. You and me both. He just kind Speaker 5 01:23:37 Of reaches out one hand towards yours. I hate repeating myself, but I'm still parsing out some complicated interpersonal dynamics. Speaker 1 01:23:51 I told you, before that, I looked at you and I felt like I was breaking a promise that I made vows. And I did. I did make a promise promised Speaker 5 01:24:04 On sea and stone storms and salt. That I'd love that woman with my whole Speaker 1 01:24:08 Heart. But the thing is loving her and loving you. And knowing Speaker 5 01:24:17 That you understand what it's like to love her too, that she understands what it's like to love you. Speaker 1 01:24:23 It just makes me love the both of you more for it. It adds up on itself, multiplies that don't know I've always been shot at maths, but the way I see it, that love just goes round and round. It keeps getting bigger. So I made a promise to love Sabine with my whole heart. But the thing is with this with all of us, I think my Speaker 5 01:24:52 Whole heart's big enough that it's going to take two people to carry it. Speaker 3 01:24:57 You know, if you said shit like that to Sabine before she got mad, she'd probably storm out and like a lot less in the middle of conversations. And then fee's going to lean across the table and gets him. He laughs and kisses you back. Speaker 1 01:25:13 You haven't given me bad advice yet. Last. Speaker 5 01:25:17 How about you? Go get your promise or I'll see reason. If she comes Speaker 1 01:25:20 Back, he Speaker 5 01:25:22 Gives you this big crooked grin and winks at you. I think it's about time. We all got this sorted out properly Speaker 3 01:25:31 Well past time, but better, late than never. And then feet walks up fence. And as you do that, our camera Speaker 5 01:25:42 Pans out over the banshee, as it speeds across the waves, making its way towards FOC folder. Speaker 0 01:25:55 And that's going to do it for us Wolf. Ah, Speaker 5 01:26:02 I mean we all almost died, but fecal finally got their shit together. So I guess the DMS give us and the DMS take it the way I'm having a blast, but we'll see if that continues next time on compelled duel.
